As far as the errors with the “old” Movie Player, I pulled the old v002 Movie Player (and Screen Capture) plugins out of the folder prior to installing Media Tools, so this was the only v002 Movie Player in the list on QC startup. I also made a new qtz.

Also, I’m on a MBP with AMD Radeon HD 6770M grfx.

Got Media Tools to build.
I was confused about populating the v002 Utilities submodule with

git submodule update --init

but the v002 Utilities folder in the Media Tools project folder was empty, so I downloaded the contents from github, copied the files to the empty v002 Utilities folder, then the build worked.

Currently the plugin is in the Quartz Composer Plug-Ins folder with the rest of the v002 plugins I have installed.

Using a 720p ProRes 422 movie file exported directly from FCPX 10.0.7, plays in QT Player, plays in QC with Movie Importer (though this generates null errors in Viewer Debug mode), plays in VDMX.

As with the beta 5 version of v002 Movie Player, I have black screen with Movie Player 3. I see nothing obviously related in Console, except perhaps audio/track errors, are they related? The QC Comp only has the Movie Player 3, Billboard and Clear. Here are the console messages:

Build fails for me with Media Tools in Xcode. Tried 32-bit, Intel 32/64-bit, native. I’m a total noob with Xcode.

Question, sorry — for all the V002 stuff on github, are these the latest greatest, and should I try to get these and compile my own? Much of the old versions still work for me on 10.8.2. What’s best for the folks at v002?

lookitscool’s Key Event Emulator seems to be a good solution. (Thank you!) MidiStroke was a bit buggy and clunky for me, and I’d much rather have something saved inside a QC patch.

(Maybe a small patch could be added to the QC Syphon Server plugin pkg?)

I don’t think it was a false alarm because I reported this after the same thing happened consistently with patch inline, then didn’t when disconnected, maybe tried 10 times. Currently, however, it’s behaving, even though I haven’t changed anything in the comp. I’ll let you know.

Perhaps you could glitch your video with built-in patches, namely the Render In Image without a Clear patch. If you animate the RII pixel dimensions, x/y, width, color, etc., you can do some damage. 🙂

Not sure about your exact needs without seeing your comp, and you probably tried this — in QC you can use Image Dimensions to get your original stream dimensions, then Image Resize to make your other images fit your original stream.

Hello. Checking on the progress for file naming, et al.
Question: if I set up motion detection in Quartz Composer, is there a way to trigger record?

Been working okay over here. I think I may have an issue scanning the Directory Scanner in QC that may have set off Syphon Recorder with the flashing / recoding to black. Still investigating.

Dang, I already wrote a response but must not have sent the post. Anyway, either solution you suggest for file naming would work for me.

Re: ps3eye / macam, once again this is intermittent behavior. Mostly works fine. When it does happen it appears to happen simultaneously in the QC Viewer and the Syphon Recorder window. It appears to only happen while using Syphon. Syphon Server is sending Image. Since this is my first go with Syphon, I’ll keep you updated. Seeking stability for real time performance is my main issue.

I want to be able to choose my own file name for files recorded. For example, right now I am experimenting a lot and creating a bunch of recordings with the recorder. I’m exploring an immediate record / playback scenario for live performance. Right now I need to keep dragging files out of the folder if I wish to not have them play through the Directory Scanner in Quartz Composer. As a result I end up with a bunch of duplicate file names. If I could set filename in Quartz Composer then I could address the issue.

Also, fyi, I am having a bit of intermittent buggy behavior, recorder screen flashing black or recording black, requiring restart of QC and Syphon Recorder. I’m using a ps3eye with the custom Open Frameworks macam driver on a Macbook Pro running 10.6.7. All in all it is working pretty well. I’d like it to be more solid, of course. Question: I find that about 50% of the time I have to turn off/on the QC viewer after record to get everything to stabilize and play correctly. Could this be a Syphon issue? I was thinking QC issue, but I don’t know. I want continuous playback as files are added, so having to to turn off the viewer is undesirable.
