Thanks Vade
Syphoner is a new one for me 🙂 DLing now. How does one do screen capture in QC from a different application like Chrome? I know how to use Syphon in QC to pipe an image or a QC Viewer window but not external app windows.
usefuldesign.auParticipantYes more interns and time, that’s what Cesar probably wanted most too.
ZeroMQ looks really interesting. I came to know about it via VUO team last year. I’ve been wanting to do a live presentation via web thing that caches the slide images locally then advances thru them via web messages. Hardly needs ZeroMQ low-latency approach but I thought why not. Anyone interested in working on a proof of concept with me?
will have a look at sykick-sycatch when I get a 2nd modern Mac sounds neat. FW would be fine for me although I already bring two cameras in that way (but have 3 ports thanks to the 17″ MBP’s PCcard slot which hosts a two port FW800 card).
usefuldesign.auParticipantThanks Tom (not Toby, sorry!).
Thinking of chaining a couple of MBPs together one for rendering the other for streaming. Then again with the HDMI out and a inexpensive BMD MiniRecorder on TB port in it’s not so hard these days with the latest model I guess.

usefuldesign.auParticipantThanks for those observations, Vade makes me fell a bit better 🙂 I guess not allowing an old OS on a new MBP is not the same as disabling new iOS features on less than latest iPhone devices too. Kinda opposite actually 😉
The turn around on OS X of one major upgrade a year is getting a bit rapid when it means leaving so many behind each upgrade. Would be okay if Apple actually kept QC up to snuff with latest OS…

usefuldesign.auParticipantI’m avoiding 10.8 at least until it’s had a couple of updates based on general experience of 10.n.0 releases. And also because I use so many Kineme plugins and only File Tools has been updated for 10.8 so far IIANM with no stated plans for them to upgrade the others for 10.8 compatibility.
Makes it hard though when latest MBPs can’t have a 10.7 install b/c of the Apple Way. I doubt this is like dropping floppy drives and suspect this is more like Apple refusing Siri on the non iPhone4S models even though the 4 has pretty much the same chips and is CPU capabilities as the 4S.
usefuldesign.auParticipantThanks Toby. I ended up using BonixTVs Screen Capture worked reasonably well. I’ve noticed both it and CamTwists Desktop+ feature both require you to have all apps involved in patching video with ducktape to be on the active desktop. As an old Spaces user (now Mission Control in 10.7+) I was bamboozled for a while that capturing wasn’t working as I had Skype, CamTwist, Bonix TV and Flash Media Live Encoder all on separate Desktop Spaces which hosed the whole thing. Be interesting if Syphon Screen Capture can work ‘off-screen’ as it were but I guess it’s unlikely the GPU will hold textures for desktops other than the currently active one.
I’m on 10.7.2 so does that rule out v002 Media Tools?
usefuldesign.auParticipantThanks I just noticed your reply, Vade. Will test your NeXT version 🙂

August 3, 2012 at 6:31 pm in reply to: Resize Image on Server causes client fail using QC comps. #6264usefuldesign.auParticipantI tried your demo comps using Syphon public beta r2 and it still falls over in Client window when I re-size Server Viewer window. After that restarting the Viewer gives a double plus a Y-axis stretch in the Viewer. Not ever single time you resize Server but at certain unknown trigger points.

That demo falls over here when I resize the Server Comp view window. Client just shows a blank.
July 31, 2012 at 3:10 am in reply to: Resize Image on Server causes client fail using QC comps. #6248usefuldesign.auParticipantOh thanks wont reduce comp then. Yes I’ve found with locked off dimension and using image input I’m sweet. I just took it up to 1280×960 and shrinking the Viewer window to small sizes like 360px is not breaking Client comp viewer window now. 🙂
That double-the-size-it-should-be bug always scares me though in other plugins and if it wasn’t you two dev’s I’d be banishing the plugin for a while 😉

Hi bernie
Could you explain this command. I want to use a Syphon client .qtz file inside Keynote but since I can’t ‘see’ it in KinemeCore I can’t make it safe.
THanks
Alastairusefuldesign.auParticipantThanks Vade you have expressed it
