bangnoiseKeymaster
Thanks for the thanks!
1. I’d guess none.
2. Unlikely, but if you are keen you could open an issue on the framework project and we’ll consider it/ see if it accumulates interest. What are you trying to do?bangnoiseKeymasterHope to here from someone soon
I put something together the other night. Is six months soon? Try this:
I get flickering video in VirtualDJ, with or without this plugin, but presumably it works for some people. Post if you have issues with this…
bangnoiseKeymasterHa yea, I think bbPress has an overhauled version due to be released, we’ll fix it when that happens…
bangnoiseKeymasterHi, thanks for the report. After half an hour of slamming our faces off our desks we are close to a fix for this, watch this space.
bangnoiseKeymasterAlso, and this is related to the ../../ directions above, make sure your problem project and the SyphonExample project are at the same remove from the OF root folder.
bangnoiseKeymasterAh yes, sorry, didn’t think of that.
I’ll open an issue for this as it either needs to be made clear that the framework must be copied, or made to work without copying…
anyway, glad you’re up and running
edit: this is issue 11.
bangnoiseKeymaster1. Get Info on the WarpMap_0.1 target and click the Build Settings tab
2. At the top of the Build Settings is a search box, type Syphon into that
3. One of the settings that will show up is “FRAMEWORK_SEARCH_PATHS_QUOTED_FOR_TARGET_2” with the value of “$(SRCROOT)/../../../addons/ofxSyphon/libs/Syphon/lib/osx”
4. Make sure that points to the correct location of ofxSyphon relative to your project (each ../ is travelling up one level in the folder structure)any idea is we would be able to do so in Linux one day ?
One day if Linux adds the requisite features, maybe. Now, no. http://syphon.v002.info/faq.php
bangnoiseKeymaster1. Did you build the addon as per the instructions in “Read Me – Building the OF addon.rtf” in the OpenFrameworks folder you got from SVN?
2. Make sure you’re linking the framework in the Xcode target for your project. If you select the target in Xcode and expand it, there should be a “Link binary with Frameworks” build phase (or similarly named, I only have Xcode 4 to hand) – if Syphon.framework isn’t listed there, drag it from inside the ofxSyphon group in the Xcode project.bangnoiseKeymasterAh yep, the other report was from someone using Soundflower. I’ll do some testing as soon as I have time – probably not immediately. Thanks for the report.
bangnoiseKeymasterHi, and thanks for the kind words.
We’ve had one other report of sound issues, so it’s on our todo list. To help narrow it down, could you let us know
1. What audio device you’re recording from (what’s selected in the Audio Input menu in the Preferences)
2. If the problem appears if you select another device
3. What you’re recording to (internal SSD, firewire hard drive, etc)
4. How far through a file in minutes and seconds you usually see the problemThanks
bangnoiseKeymasterHi
VDMX now has Syphon support built-in, so you don’t need to use the qcFX as long as your version of VDMX is up to date.
Getting video IN to VDMX: Available Syphon servers show up in the Use Source menu for Layer Source controls, and you can add them to a Media Bin if you right-click in the bin and Add Clip From Built-In Source.
Getting video OUT of VDMX: Click the Plugins tab of the Workspace Inspector, click the + button and choose Syphon Output, then check the boxes in the Syphon Output window that appears to enable output for the main output or whatever layers you want.
Beta 1 is still the current release – there will be a Beta 2 soon adding a few new features for developers.
Best of luck – shout if you have any other questions.
bangnoiseKeymasterAlternatively if you are getting an exception in Quartz Composer you could paste the entire text of the error you see.
bangnoiseKeymasterYo
I’m not sure if this problem is with Syphon or one of the many other parts involved, but your description is too vague to diagnose.
Can you link a .qtz that won’t work, or if the problem is when you try to paste, two .qtz with clear instructions so we can reproduce your problem. Also if you could link every QC plugin needed by the .qtz that would save us some time.
Cheerrrrrs
bangnoiseKeymasterWhatever triggers it, I think it’s probably a bug in GrandVJ – I’d see if you can provoke Arkaos into action.
June 16, 2011 at 10:28 am in reply to: simple /stupid question processing & resolume with syphon #4223bangnoiseKeymasterHi
You need to tell the client in Resolume the name of your Processing server and/or the name of its app. If you’re using the FFGL client plugin then there are parameters for that. If you’re using a QC composition then you could publish the server and app name inputs to the client in the composition and they’ll show up in Resolume. If you’re not sure of the details then let us know how you’re doing it and we can do a screenshot of a working setup.
bangnoiseKeymasterCorrect.
bangnoiseKeymasterUnfortunately the texture is backed such that it won’t return meaningful values if you try to read it back to the CPU – you’re not doing anything wrong. Drawing Syphon’s texture into an FBO is the only way to do this .
bangnoiseKeymasterSee the Help menu. There are global keyboard shortcuts which work from any app. If you want to use MIDI, use MidiStroke (http://www.charlie-roberts.com/midiStroke/) to convert a note to command-control-R.
Presets yes maybe one day.
Cheers
bangnoiseKeymasterHi mic
Possible perhaps, but not a priority – only sources which show up as audio devices for the moment.
This might be something BoinxTV could do?
bangnoiseKeymasterRight, new version up which appears to render the right way up and at the right dimensions. New problem is that sometimes GrandVJ’s output goes white when I trigger a clip…
