this video shows the applications running in activity monitor if that helps at all? also shows crash with the standalone as well as a crash when creating a syphon output. Again this video was also intended for vidvox hence the direct address to Ray…
This issue is reproducable with the Unity Syphon Demo. VDMX will also crash with a standalone.
The RGB delay seems to be some sort of catalyst. I still get frequent crashes when I am not using the delay but with it running I get a crash every time.January 13, 2011 at 9:30 pm in reply to: Error with Syphon in Jitter standalone application #4570
you can use the “pcontrol” object to load and control other patches

heres the link to that page for people who run into this issue
Vizzie does send out matrix info. if you open up the original patches for vizzie you can see that they are just bpatchers with fairly simple jitter patches inside of them. you should be able to directly connect the Vizzie “video out” to your jit.gl.syphonserver object.
NOTE: Vizzie is not optimized in jitter. If you want better performance you should be using OpenGL rendering for your videos. Vade has made posts about this before on his page.
Also I am currently in the process of finishing up a full “VJ” style application (“Base”) completely built in Jitter which will be released open (vizzie style). It should be ready for a public beta soon (febuary?). Will include everything that vizzie has to offer and more plus it is fully optimized. think vdmx where you can build your own modules like modul8 + support for Ableton Live.
I’ll post more about that when it’s ready.
I dunno if this is related at all but I just got some really strange stuff when using syphon and jit.gl.asyncread from a jit.pwindow.
I’ll do some more debuggin to figure out where this glitch is coming from but either way its kind of interesting if you wanna take a look at it.
*fair warning: this glitch will crash your computer, a hard reboot is the only way that I can get out of it.
Async read will work, however for async read to render the gl texture must first render to a jit.window. I’v also run into an interesting problem where if I resize the jit.window that syphon renders to this will in turn change the resolution of the matrix captured by jit.gl.asyncread. are you able to reproduce this?
As a side note, I’v also been having some strange issues with syphon and the jit.gl.asyncread object. Will post more soon.
